On 13 April 2014 during Palm Sunday in St. Peter’s Square the cross of World Youth Day and the icon of Heavenly Mother Salus Populi Romani were entrusted to the young Polish people by the young Brazilians. From that forward, the symbols are entrusted one by one by Polish dioceses. The idea of peregrination consists in showing the cross not only in the sacral places but also in schools, universities, dorms, hospitals, penal institutions.

The peregrination of World Youth Day’symbols in the archdiocese in Katowice is taking place from 4th to 17th of January 2015:

4 – 5 January – region Katowice (Siemianowice)
6 – 7 January – region Chorzów (Ruda Śl.)
8 – 9 January – region Rybnik (Knurów)
10 – 11 January – region Żory (Jastrzębie)
12 – 13 January – region Wodzisław
14 – 16 January – region Tychy (Pszczyna)

On 22 April 1984 John Paul II entrusted the cross to the young people and said:
“My dear young people, at the conclusion of the Holy Year, I entrust to you the sign of this Jubilee Year: the Cross of Christ. Carry it throughout the world as a symbol of Christ’s love for humanity, and announce to everyone that only in the death and resurrection of Christ can we find salvation and redemption.’’
